Westin Resort St. John receives Reverse Osmosis approval

On Wednesday, May 13, 2026, the Coastal Zone Management met and approved the Westin Resort on St. John’s request to replace/expand their reverse osmosis (RO) system for turning the salty water of the Caribbean Sea into potable water for resort operations.

The seawater intake and salt effluent outtake will be in a similar position of the existing system, but the pipes flowing to Great Cruz Bay will be buried along a different route to protect the existing growth.

Once started, the excavation and placement of the equipment including High-Density Polyethylene (HPDE) piping should only take a few weeks to complete.
